Moving and Packing Tips. Tips for a Good move.
A Month before moving. Put in a change of address with the Postal Service Schedule a disconnection of your utilities, and reconnect them for your new location. Send family and friends a post card with your new address. Three weeks before your move. Make sure all library books are returned. If you are moving into or out of an apartment , reserve the elevator for your moving day. Two weeks before your move Assemble a folder of important information about the house for the new owner. Plan meals for the last week of the move, or eat out every day, you'll be tired from packing. One week before your move Prepare an "essentials" box. Label a few boxes "Load Last" of items you and your family will need, while your unpacking, it might take a while to find important things. Empty, deforst and clean your refridgerator at least 24 hours before your move. Make childcare arrangements for moving day.
Packing Tips You can purchase boxes from us, we have all shapes and sizes. We can do all your packing or some of your packing for you. Plan on packing several weeks before your moving day. Here are some helpful information on how things should be prepared for your Moving Day! General Always pack in reverse order of density. Place heavier items toward the bottom of the box and lighter items toward the top or a separate box all together. Always put the greatest amount of cushioning material on the top and the bottom of each box. Pack heavier items in smaller boxes. Try to designate a specific area for the packing process. Once you empty shelves, cabinets, closets you will not have enough space to maneuver and pack properly. Always fill each box completely, even if you have to use excessive amount of filler material. This will reduce the chance of damage during storage, stacking or moving.
Packing China and Fragile Items When packing dishes and plates, the dishes should be wrapped individually and placed vertically in a box, same as you would load a dishwasher. Use wrapping paper, newspaper, bubble wrap, or styrofoam chips as a cushion between the items. Remember to crunch pieces of wrapping paper or bubble wrap and place it at the bottom of the box. Packing Furniture and Excercise Equipment It is not necessary to remove your clothes from their dressers, we will shrink wrap them. Remove parts, hardware and keys away from furniture and exercise equipment that you disassamble. Place them in seperate clear plastic bags , label and tape them to the item they belong to. |
